It’s short and sweet this week, well maybe not so sweet. In a roundabout way, I’m going to have a moan. I’d like to thank Paul Hill for his weekly texts with some of the fixture results. If nobody tells me how the games go, I can’t pass it on!
The week started with Norwest hosting the annual Patrons versus the MSL. As always, there was a great atmosphere on the green and this followed the players into the clubhouse, where they enjoyed a supper of Mary Coombes’ delicious faggots. Thanks go to all the ladies who helped in the kitchen, the bar staff and everyone else who helped in any way.
Our ladies had two Wild League games this week. For the first, they went to Wyrall Park, where after a very pleasant afternoon, with lots of ominous clouds but no rain, they lost 2–10. The Thursday game was cancelled as we were playing the ladies from Castle Cary who, due to a certain music festival, were unable to get to us through all that traffic.
Wednesday saw our men triumphant, winning 14–2 against Chew Stoke in the Mid-Somerset League, this sees the boys lying third in the league so far. Well done lads.
And that’s it. I’d like to tell you more, but without being told the results, I can’t pass them on, you know my email address and phone number, so come on all you Norwesters keep me ‘in the loop’.
