During my time writing the Journal reports for Norwest I can honestly say that I have found this week’s news the hardest: for it is my sad duty to pass on the news of the death our dear friend and fellow member, Anne Wilkinson.
Over many years Anne has been a true and loyal member of Norwest. She has been a mainstay for the club, giving freely of her time and energy in many roles, without any fuss, but always with a practical, no nonsense attitude and a smile. Nothing was beyond her; if it needed doing, she would just roll her sleeves up and get on with it.
She was indispensable to Ken, her husband, during his time as bar steward; not only serving behind the bar, but also doing lots of the behind the scenes work that the job entails. Together with Ken, they have worked tirelessly for many years and very successfully on the thankless task of organising our annual bowls tour.
During her time at Norwest Anne has held the post of President, Ladies Captain, Ladies Fixture Secretary and Mixed Fixture Secretary.
Anne was a lovely, warm, caring lady and a dear friend to all at Norwest, and we will all miss her greatly. Norwest will be a poorer place without her.
Our thoughts and love are with Ken and all her family at this very sad time.
