Yes, I’m back after a wonderful two weeks in sunny Malta. I hope you all missed me, but I’m sure Avis kept you up-to-date with the goings-on at Norwest.
Thanks, Avis, for filling the gap and it’s nice to know that I’m not the only one to make mistakes. In last week’s write-up, Avis said that Pam Bush won the Ladies’ Round Robin competition and Ann Woodham was runner-up, whereas it was the other way around. Ann won, so congratulations to her and commiserations to Pam for your very short lived victory! Avis has asked me to pass on her apologies to you both.
Better news for the Ladies this week, we actually managed to field a complete team for both our North Somerset League games. That’s three on the trot, so maybe things are looking up, but it’s just a pity we left it until the end of the season.
The first game was played on Tuesday at home against Bloomfield, and even though we only won on one rink, we managed to win overall by two shots, giving us six of the ten points, thanks to Skip, Sue, and her girls, who won by a large margin.
On Thursday, again at home, we played Chew Stoke Ladies and once again, we won, so, with only three games left to play, let’s see if we can finish with a winning streak, girls!
It’s been a quiet week for our lads, with the Saturday league finished for the season and their Saturday friendly game against Bristol was cancelled, so they ended up playing an inter-club friendly.
After a brilliant season, our A team just missed out on promotion when they lost their last game against Imperial on their dreaded artificial green.
However, the B team won and are promoted, so, next season, they will be joining the A team in Division One of the County League East and both teams will meet to play their first game on May 13th 2017, which should prove to be an interesting start to the season.
