What are you doing in the evenings next week? If you’re at a loose end, or even if you’re not, how about joining us at Norwest to try your hand at lawn bowls? If it’s something completely new to you, or even if you’ve played before and would like to have another go, we would love to see you.

Our Open Evenings are on Monday 10th, Tuesday 11th, Wednesday 12th and Thursday 13th April from 6 p.m. until dusk. You don’t need anything special, just flat shoes; we’ll sort you out with some woods and that’s it! So how about it? Just pop along to have a go or for a drink and a chat. If you decide you would like to give it a go, your first year’s membership is free. You will find us on the A367 (the Fosseway) and our drive runs between Buildbase and Norton Range football club or if you need any further information, you can give me a ring on: 01761 479310 or visit: www.norwestbowlsclub.co.uk

A good time was had by all over the weekend with the annual Fish and Chip Skittles League supper taking place. Moira Mallison, along with ‘Shoot the Cat’ team members John Mallison, Eric Obern and Dave Hill, were the winners of this year’s Knock-Out Cup, while Josh Cottle was the top scorer with 59. We were sorry to learn that, while being our sticker-up for several years and sticking up well over 12,000 pins this season, Josh has decided to ‘retire’. So, both personally and on behalf of all the skittlers, thank you Josh – you’ve done a great job and we’ll miss you. Thanks also go to Mary and Eddie for their work behind the bar during the season and we must give a huge vote of thanks to Keith Coombes and Dennis Hancock for all their hard work in organising and running the 2016/17 skittle league and also for organising, along with their helpers, the fish and chips supper.
