There has been mixed fortune for all of Paulton’s bowls teams this past week or so.
The Men’s continued run of bad form has resulted in yet another defeat in the County league – this time to fellow strugglers, Alexandra Park. Mathematically, Paulton can still avoid relegation, but with only two games left, results elsewhere will probably have to help them.
The Mixed team fared better, with victory over Norwest in stormy weather conditions more appropriate to winter sports than a quiet Sunday afternoon in summer! The club was more than grateful to two new bowlers, John Meaton and Sandra Yeomans, who played well in helping one rink win by 25 shots to 8.
In-house competitions continue, with most of them nearing the Semi-Final stages. Within the past week, finalists have been decided for both the Mixed Fours and Fixed Jack competitions. The Fours competition was a round-robin affair, spread over a whole day. Lunch was provided by Joyce Denning and Diane Ball, which gave the whole day an excellent social atmosphere, as well as a competitive bowling one.
