The next night was an away MSL game versus Norwest Men. A last-minute hitch for Paulton’s Men saw them play short, meaning a shot penalty. Despite this setback, they convincingly won on two rinks but lost on two. With the penalties applied, they lost overall by just four shots. So, hard luck, Gents! Their Saturday County League fixture was away to Bath, where they were unlucky not to pick up more than two points.
Paulton Ladies took on Norwest Ladies in their week’s only Wild League fixture. They had victories on two rinks but lost on one and, like the club’s men, were unlucky, losing overall by just three shots. Norwest’s game tactic on one rink has prompted Paulton Ladies to consider submitting an additional rule to the League for adoption: “During a game, no discussion is to take place regarding an opponent’s style of under-apparel (or lack thereof) when that player is on the mat bending and just about to deliver her wood!”
Sunday afternoon finished off the week’s fixtures – a mixed game at Paulton against Fosseway, which was very enjoyable, with the home team winning.
