What a busy week for Paulton Bowls Club, commencing with the Men’s spring meeting which was very well-attended. Colin Curtis is this year’s Captain, ably assisted by Steve Chivers and Dave Beard. We wish them a very successful season.
Next, on Tuesday, 10th April, the Ladies met for lunch at La Campagna in Paulton, who provided an excellent meal enjoyed by over twenty Ladies. Many thanks to the staff.
Following the lunch, retiring Captain, Pat Stock, and Vice-Captain, Shirley Meek, were presented with bouquets as a mark of thanks for their work last season. This season’s Captain is Shirley Meek, assisted by Daphne Dodgson.
The green was opened on Friday, and members were eager to get outside after a long winter. Players found that the green, although heavy, played very well. Dave Beard was thanked for being the power behind all the work on the green which has taken place over the winter. Thanks are due to everyone who helps with work on the green and in the clubhouse. Everything looks good for the forthcoming season!
If you would like to try bowls, do come along on a Friday evening from 6 p.m. All you need to bring is a pair of flat shoes. You will be warmly welcomed, and remember – the first year is free to anyone who has not played before.
