Prattens sent three rinks of Men to join with two rinks of Men from Paulton in a five rink friendly game against Bath Bowls Club.

As on several other occasions last week, the weather turned against us, having already stopped because of heavy rain and hailstones, we managed to play fourteen ends before the weather turned again. Rain, hail, thunder and lightning made any further pleasant bowls playing impossible and so the game was brought to an end and we had an early tea. Overall, the combined Prattens and Paulton team just gained a victory over Bath.

Prattens’ Ladies played at home to Bath on Tuesday, but again, the weather played a big part and only seven ends out of eighteen were played before players had to come off the Green; at that point the result stood at Prattens 8, Bath 9. A further seven ends were played before rain and hailstones stopped any further play and the game was abandoned.

On Thursday, Prattens’ Ladies had an away match against Stothert and Pitt.

The weather was better, but torrential rain meant only fifteen out of eighteen ends were played; the result was very close, with a win for Prattens, 38 to 37.

There was an improvement in the weather on Sunday, when a mixed game took place at Ashcombe (Weston-super-Mare). Prattens won on only one rink out of four, with the overall result being Prattens 53, Ashcombe 83.

This week, Prattens’ Ladies have a home game on Tuesday afternoon against local rivals, Fosseway, there is a Mixed game away to Sydney Gardens (Bath) on Wednesday evening and the Men have a two rink game against Alexandra Park (Bath) at home on Thursday evening.
