The photograph shows Robert Wilcox, of local company, Massey Wilcox, presenting a new ramp to Prattens Club Chairman, Barrie Dando. The new ramp will allow easier access to the Green for disabled bowlers and will also be used to get machinery onto the Green for essential upkeep. Prattens are very grateful to Robert and Massey Wilcox for their kind donation.
This week Prattens’ Ladies played two friendly games against Fosseway and Isle of Wedmore. Prattens won both games; 48 shots to 42 and 32 shots to 29 respectively.
It has been a busy start to the season for Prattens’ Men and the mixed teams. Over the last two weeks, Prattens’ Men played Bath Bowling Club at Bath, where Prattens lost on all four rinks but two were very close, losing by only one or two shots respectively. On Saturday, 4th May, Prattens played a National two Rink game against Willmott Park, but unfortunately Prattens lost on both rinks to some very good young players.
In mixed games, Prattens played Banwell Away and, on a lovely sunny afternoon, won on all four rinks. In a mixed friendly against Trowbridge, Prattens won on one rink, drew on one and lost on two rinks, winning overall 63 shots to 61.
In the coming week, Prattens’ Ladies play their first Wild League game of the Season, Away to Paulton. Prattens’ Men also play their first Somerset County League game of the season at Home to Keynsham B and there is a mixed friendly at Home to Ashcombe Park.
