As part of our social events in the closed season, Prattens recently held a skittles evening, where members’ families and friends got together to play ‘killer’ as, due to the number of people who came, a conventional game was not possible.

The evening was organised by Richard and Lin Brimble, with a hearty supper provided by Lin Brimble and Sue Smart.

A raffle was held, with numerous prizes donated by members. At the end of a very enjoyable evening, a prize was given to the winning male player, John Price, and lady player, Edna Shearn.

The evening was also an opportunity to wish two of our ladies a ‘Happy 80th Birthday’. A ‘tuneful’ rendition of Happy Birthday filled the hall, followed quickly by a presentation, to each of them, of a decorative cake stand full of beautiful cup cakes and the traditional blowing out of the candles. The evening was a great success and a substantial amount was raised for club funds.

Also, as part of work being undertaken during the closed season, work is progressing well on the re-decoration of the changing rooms. Prattens’ pre-season meeting was held on Saturday, 24th March, at 10.30 a.m., in the clubhouse. The meeting was open to members and anyone who is interested in finding out more about joining us. For those who have not bowled before, we offer free membership for the first year, unfortunately we cannot make this offer to those transferring from other clubs.

We hope to open the green for the forthcoming season, weather permitting, on Saturday, 14th April, with President’s Day on Sunday, 15th April.
