I am pleased to be able to report that the members of Prattens Bowls Club have now been able to start playing matches against other opposition as opposed to playing games and having competitions amongst ourselves.
So far, the results have not been going as we would have wanted, but we are enjoying playing and we have some more games this week.
The big news is that next weekend, Prattens is holding two open sessions in conjunction with the Bowls England organised Bowls Big Weekend so if you have ever thought that you might like to try bowls (which is truly the sport for all ages – not the sport for the aged) come along to one of our sessions and have a go.
To back up my comment about it not just being a game for those who have become too old for their previous sport, there have been world bowls champions in their late teens, as well as players who are significantly older than that and find bowls a sociable sport that provides us with the competitive moments that we were used to when we were younger.
