Another fantastic week of results from the men at Purnell Bowls Club.

Starting on Tuesday in the County Turnball Cup away to Frome Selwood, the club’s barmy army of supporters were very nervous as after fifteen ends, their team were fifteen shots down overall, but there was no need to worry, as with other games of late, the lads pulled out all the stops, ending the game nineteen shots up. Now they have to prepare for an away game with the mighty Bath in the quarter final.

On Wednesday evening, the men clinched the MSL league title beating Prattens on all four rinks and are a massive 34 points ahead of their nearest league rivals.

On Saturday, the A team kept their title hopes alive by beating Fosseway away in the Somerset Premier Two Division on their very fast green on all rinks, gaining all 12 points. Again, it looked a lot different at the start with Fosseway matching every shot on all rinks, but it was the visitors who coped with the conditions the best to come out worthy winners.

Just across the road from Fosseway at Prattens, Purnell C team had their best result of the season, with several new bowlers and one 14-year-old they won on all rinks.

The ladies had a mixed week, they lost at Fosseway, but won by just one shot away to local rivals, Paulton.

Anyone who would like to have a go at bowls, what ever their age, come along to the green at Bristol Road, Paulton, throughout the school holidays on Wednesday morning from 9.30 a.m., it doesn’t mater if it’s raining because we can go inside on the indoor rinks.
