Another busy weekend at Purnell Bowls Club starting with the ever popular entertainment night on Friday. Members and guests rocked the night away to music provided by Chris Rainbow, it was great to see Dave Wyatt strutting his stuff on the new dance floor.
The finals of the indoor club’s internal competitions took place over Saturday and Sunday with the following results:
Men’s Singles winner, Tim Wilcox, runner up, Don Dart. Ladies’ Singles winner, P. Dando, runner up, Margaret Harvey. Men’s Pairs winners, Bob Richards and Mat Elley, runners up, B. Dando and C. Love. Ladies’ Pairs winners, Carol Hansford and Chris Godfrey, runners up, P. Dando and M. Harvey. Ladies’ Triples winners, Jan Dart, Jane Gullick and Carol Hansford, runners up, A. Toogood, J. Bridges and J. Palmer. Mixed Pairs winners, Jan and Don Dart, runners up, Ann Chivers and Jim Jones.
On Friday, 1st April from 7 p.m. onwards, the outdoor club is putting on cheese and wine to welcome back existing members and new members for the enrolment night at the new enlarged refurbished club room. Everyone welcome, new bowlers particularly welcomed with no membership fee for the first year, plus coaching from the club’s trained coaches.
The outdoor green is looking in tip top condition and will open on Saturday, 9th April, weather permitting. New members can get some practice on the indoor rinks before the outdoor season starts, free of charge.
