The past couple of weeks has been extremely busy for Purnell Bowls Club.

The Bank Holiday weekend started with two Away games, followed by the County Two Wood competition on Sunday with top bowlers from the north of the county competing to qualify for the County Finals Day and a chance to appear in the National Finals at Leamington Spa in August. The icing on the cake was that our own Jim Towells finished as winner and will now play

Rich Withers from Weston-super-Mare in the Final.

Also on the same day, three of our Youth Squad, Cameron, Chloe and Jack, were in the Somerset team which took part in a friendly County game against Dorset, which was a resounding win for Somerset. Proud of them!

Bank Holiday Monday was our open day and attracted several potential members who came along and tried out our sport, some of which have already come back for more. If you missed out on our Open Day then please come along any Saturday morning between 10 am and 12 noon when you will be very welcome.

This past weekend we had a friendly away to Frome Park and a National two-rink victory away to Frome Selwood, winning by one shot.

On Sunday last, our two younger members, Sam and Cameron, took part in the National Junior Singles Under-25s competition at Wedmore, Somerset.

Although they both lost in the first round, they gained valuable experience playing against older and very experienced competitors.

Our indoor bowls hall reopens this week and is available to all who feel they cannot cope with outdoor greens.
