What a way to end a terrific two seasons by the Purnell Bowls Lads; the A team winning at Bath, 9–3, in the Somerset County Premier Division and the B team beating Frome Selwood, 12–0, at home in the Somerset County East One Division.

The club has played Bath in three competitions this season; the National Top Club, which they won, the National Two Rink, which they won, the Somerset County League which they won, but just losing out in the Somerset Turnball Cup.

At the start of the season, the objective for the A team was to secure a place in the County Premier Division, which has been achieved – finishing in a very commendable fifth place.

Again, with the B team, it was to consolidate a position in East One Division. Well, the team blew that out of the water, finishing in the runners-up spot behind Bath B.

Unfortunately, there is only one team that goes up to the Premier Two League.

The club wanted the C team to finish in its highest position ever in East Two – and they did.

Couple all this with winning the Mid-Somerset Cup for the first time in thirty years and what a great two seasons the club has had on the playing side.

All eyes will be on the club’s Triple of Terry Priddle, John Mathews and Steve Amor, who will be up against Bristol in the County Final at Taunton. Terry Priddle will also be competing in the Final of the Unbadged on the same day, and the club wishes them every success.

There is still the Floodlight Charity Cup to complete, with the Final at Norwest on Thursday, September 14th.

The indoor rinks have been upgraded and ready for action – there are still places in teams, just come along and give it a go, or ring Don on: 01761 471019 to organize some free coaching with everything found.
