With three quarters of the indoor season gone, and Spring looming, it’s now a busy time at Purnell Bowls Club. The last few weeks of the indoor bowling will determine the outcome of the various leagues, with some competitive bowls still to come.

The club competitions are reaching the Semi-Final stages, and again some crucial games will determine the finalists for Finals weekend at the end of March. The 35-or-so new members have gradually integrated themselves into the club, and we hope they will become permanent members of the club.

The club’s youth section has been very busy, culminating in taking part in the Somerset County Indoor School of Excellence recently, with some promising results.

Sam Dart-Denning came fourth in the Seniors’ section, Toby Hawkins fourth in the Junior section, with Charlie Asburner-Hall sixth and Cameron Bowen seventh. This proves the keenness of the youngsters and the hard work of the club coaches.

Now the club is preparing for the start of the outdoor season, weather permitting, on Saturday, 14th April and the enrolment evening has been arranged for Friday, 16th March at 7 p.m.

All are welcome – both old and new members – and any further details can be obtained by contacting Club Secretary, Jan Dart on: 01761 471019.
