You’d think with the end of the bowls season, all would be quiet at Norwest, but not a bit of it. The green still needs attention and Mike and Bill have been busy scarifying and mowing and I’m sure the maintenance team will soon be swinging into action to do the many jobs which need attention. We owe a big thank you to all those who give their time to keep the place spick and span.

It’s a sure sign that winter is on the way when the Paulton and District Skittle League gets underway. We have three teams at Norwest, The Chilli Crew, Norwest 10 and the Roughedges. We also have two cribbage teams and we wish them all well for the 2016-17 season.

Our fun Fish and Chip skittles start this Friday at 8 pm. Keith and Dennis have run this for several years now, and very successful it is, too. It’s very lighthearted and anyone who would like to come along for a few drinks and to cheer the skittlers on will be very welcome. It’s a great way to keep in touch with fellow members during the ’off’ season.

Three more dates to remember are:

The Ladies meeting on Saturday, 8th October at 2.30 pm. We hope to see all our lady members there to have their say about any changes for next season, and it’s also a great chance for a bit of a chat, along with the tea and cake afterwards.

Ann Woodham is providing another of her superb Sunday lunches on Sunday, 9th October at 12.30 pm. You do need to book for this, so don’t forget to give Ann a bell if you’d like to sample her cooking.

The Men’s meeting is on Sunday, 16th October at 10.30 am. Again, we want to see a good turnout for this, as it’s important that our members have their say as regards any changes they would like to see for next season. Any motions proposed at either the ladies or men’s meetings have to the go forward to the AGM, which is on November 6th at 2.30 pm.
