An interesting week for Paulton with several wins and something a little different at the finish.

Although the ladies came second in the Fear Cup to Purnells at the start of the week they reversed their fortunes in their other matches winning away at Norwest on Tuesday and again against Norwest at home on Thursday winning ten points to two, well done Ladies.

Following suit the men, away at Prattens, produced a good win on all rinks in the MS League, so well done to them as well.

Sunday saw Paulton Bowls try a new venture with a “Corporate Bowls” day with a local contracting firm their staff, family’s and sub contractors where Paulton Bowls members provided advice, coaching, equipment and refreshments. This proved to be a big hit with all the younger generation concerned who had a great time with a lot of good natured banter and a full running commentary. A plus was the weather which, despite dire predictions, gave warm ideal bowling conditions all day. Four of the visitors finishing their competition day and enjoyment by beating their “seasoned hosts” by a single shot, in a five end contest, to much hilarity and comment; ah well you can’t win them all.

The venture raised over four hundred pounds towards a new roof at the club and brought in future sponsorship for the club a win/win all round and I must give a big thank you to Sue, Di and Kim for their stirling efforts with the food and to Dave Mitchard for his single handed skills behind a very busy bar and a well done to those who gave their time encouragement and coaching skills to the visitors.
