It has not been a good week for our Ladies, as they have struggled to raise teams and subsequently went on to lose both of their games.

On Tuesday, they were away to Fosseway for an NSL game, from which they gained no points. However, on Thursday, along with the weather, things seemed to brighten up a little and after a thoroughly enjoyable Wild League game against the Ladies of Paulton, we ended up with two points. I have to say, that it never seems quite so bad losing when the company is good, and judging by the laughter and general chatter, both on and off the green, it would seem that a really great afternoon was had by both winners and losers alike.

Our chaps started off the week with a very nice 13–3 win by 34 shots when they played at home against Frome Selwood in the Mid-Somerset League. There’s only one game left to play in this league and that will be next week against Fosseway, so come on chaps, we’ve got our fingers crossed – let’s see what you can do.

In the Saturday Men’s County League East games, both A and B teams played at home and the score lines were both 10–2, but while the B team took the ten points in their game against Alexandra Park, the A team, who were playing against Stothert and Pitt, only got the two points.

Congratulations go to Aaron Delamont, who won his Open Champions game on Monday when he played Richard Weston from Bath. He now goes into round four, where he will play at home against Pauline Dando from Prattens.

Mark Kite is also into round four, and he will be playing away at Bath against Chris Spurrey. Good luck boys, looks like that’s more fingers I need to cross!

The weather on Sunday was chilly and wet to say the least, but it didn’t affect the warm welcome we received when we met up with our old friends and rivals at Paulton Bowls Club. The wets were on from the start, but the rain didn’t dampen the spirits – even if it did little for the bowling, which was somewhat challenging. Paulton beat us by nine shots, but thanks anyway to them for a lovely afternoon, a super tea and their great company. Hopefully, we will get our revenge when they come to us in a few weeks.

Just a reminder: It looks as if our tour next year to Bournemouth will be going ahead, as we now have enough takers. The deadline is Monday, 31st July, so if you want to join us, you need to get your name on the list now, and can we please have your non-returnable deposits by this date.
