As last week’s report got lost in cyberspace, you have two for the price of one this week!

Well, they say the British are obsessed with the weather, and no wonder. It has really played its part in this week’s games. Monday’s club night was well supported again, and the evening weather was just right for bowling. It was a different matter on Tuesday. The weather was very hot, so it was decided to only play fifteen of the 21 ends and everyone was thankful when we reached this. We played Purnell Ladies on a very fast and difficult green, and Fosseway lost on all rinks.

Wednesday was a lovely day yet again, and the Men welcomed our friends from Prattens across the road. The evening seems to be the best time to play, and Fosseway won on three rinks and won overall, 84 to 63 shots, so gained fourteen points in the Mid-Somerset League.

The next game was on Saturday, and again, the weather played a very big part. After all the sun and heat, this game was flooded out by a deluge at Purnell, which made the green water-logged and dangerous to play on. Fosseway came away winning on two rinks and losing on one, winning overall and gaining ten points in the County League.

Two of our members, namely Carole Jenner-Tims and Dave Yarlett, beat two players from Weston Bath in the County Mixed Pairs competition, and are now in the Quarter-Finals. We wish them all the best.

Sunday’s Club Triples was postponed until later in August due to the weather. Date to be advised.

There were not many games this week. The Ladies played a Mendip League game at home against Nailsea, and won eight of the ten points, winning on two rinks and losing on one. It was the heat that shortened the game to fifteen ends.

The Men visited Bath on Saturday and played their C team in the County League. Although it was very hot, the game was played and Fosseway won on one rink only and came away with two points.

We are still open on Monday evenings for new bowlers to come and have a go. Parking is in the large car park outside the Centurion Hotel. Come along and have a go, everyone welcome.
