The climax of the Mid-Somerset Floodlight Bowls Competition was at Norwest last Thursday night, when the home team Norwest took on Purnell in the final.
After a closely-fought game, Norwest came out on top, winning four rinks to one, which was fully deserved, they played very well in front of a good crowd.
At the presentation, after the usual hot dogs and pasties, committee member, Trevor Francis, from the Paulton Club, paid tribute to all the clubs who had taken part. He mentioned every one of the charities which had benefited during twelve years existence, in that time over £27,000 has been raised.
Trevor then presented the cup to Paul Hill, Vice Captain of Norwest.
This brings the curtain down on two very successful years for the men at Purnell Bowls Club, ending with three members, Terry Priddle, John Mathews and Steve Amor, being crowned Somerset County Triples Champions, the first members of Purnell Bowls to achieve this honour ever in the history of the club.
The indoor bowls are now up and running if anyone would like to give bowls a try, this is the time of the year to do it, in the warm using the superb indoor bowls rinks.
