MIDSOMER Norton Amateur Boxing Club’s first visit to the Home Counties Box Cup finals ended in a points defeat for Shayne Smith.

”There was a lot of wrestling going on from his opponent that was spoiling Shayne's boxing,” said coach Sean Jenkins. “It's an experience he'll take away with him and learn from it.

“We have already started preparations for his next box cup competition and hope to go one better.”

Meanwhile, the club travelled to the Exmouth show with Harry Tutchell having his third bout. Up against Daniel Elkins, of Torbay, the crowd were treated to a superb show of boxing skills from two well matched boys.

After three closely fought rounds it was a difficult to pick a winner. Ultimately, there had to be a winner and via a split decision it was given to Daniel. Harry can be proud of his performance and hopes to be an improved version for the return bout next month in Torquay.
