Stephen Clothier has been re-elected as the skipper of Timsbury Cricket Club for the 2017 season. His Vice-Captain will again be Jon Strand, but there is a new face at the helm of the 2nd XI, with Ben Hosford taking over. His joint Vice-Captains will be Rob Clothier and Sol Thompson. Ashley Davis continues as the Third XI skipper.
The decisions were ratified at the club’s AGM, which was held in the clubroom. Looking back on the 2016 season, there was general satisfaction in the progress made by each of the club sides. The 1st XI had finished fourth in the Bristol Senior Division and there had been mid-table finishes for the Seconds in Division 9 and the Thirds in Division 15.
Greg Passingham reported on another enjoyable year for the Junior teams. The decision to open the club on practice nights had been very popular and Passingham thanked club Chairman, Austin and Ann Sage for overseeing this regularly.
In his annual report, the Chairman, Austin Sage, said he felt the club was generally in a good place and he thanked the officers and Management Committee for all their hard work. He said he was delighted to see so many youngsters in the first team and making their way into senior cricket. Thursday night training sessions had been well supported. The Juniors and Seniors integrated well. He announced future plans for the club, including a refurbishment of the clubroom in the next two years. Members were delighted to hear that after a year’s absence due to illness, Roger and Eve Bird will be resuming their duties in the club kitchen after matches in 2017.
