METHODISTS’ last league match of the season against Carsons and Mangotsfield Seconds fell foul of the bad weather.

Starting in light drizzle, third-placed Carsons quickly notched up 40 runs, thanks largely to Tom Smurthwaite (32). The weather then gradually worsened to the extent that - with nothing to play for in terms of league position, and a similar forecast for the rest of the afternoon - the captains shook hands and abandoned the match after 8.2 overs.

On Saturday, September 6, sees a charity match -Methodists v Jim Eyles' XI, hosted by Midsomer Norton CC, with proceeds going to Alzheimer's Research, with a 1p.m. start.
