JIM Eyles, of Midsomer Norton, has been holding an annual cricket match for over 35 years, raising hundreds of pounds for various charities along the way.

The match is played on Midsomer Norton cricket ground, between Midsomer Norton Methodist team and a team of guests invited by Jim. A good number of supporters come along and enjoy a sumptuous tea, prepared by Helen Green and friends.

Many of the players are members of Jim’s family. At the grand age of eighty-eight, Jim is still club captain, grand-son James Green is team captain and son-in-law Stuart Green and grandson-in-law Mark Robinson are vice captains. Grand-daughter, Darcey Robinson, is captain of Midsomer Norton ladies team and sometimes ropes in Mum Charlene, when needing an extra player. Jim’s son Craig and grandson Logan are Methodist team players and second son Gavin, played in the recent fundraising match.

And Elsie, Jim’s great-grand-daughter, plays for Chard under-ten girls.
