THERE was a nailbiting finish to Timsbury’s first home match in the Bristol and District League Division 1 but in the end they were on the wrong end of a low scoring contest against Hanham.

After scoring 130 the home side reduced the visitors to 126-9but with just two balls remaining Hanham scrambled over the line.

After batting first Timsbury struggled on a difficult pitch. Mark Sage was going well before he was dismissed for 25 with an unplayable delivery. Thereafter Jez Hare did his best to keep the ship afloat with a battling 44 while a generous donation of 37 extras boosted the total to 130. George Stone with 3-33 was Hanham’s most successful bowler.

In reply the visitors were well served by Ben Brown who made 35 but the Timsbury spinners made them work hard for every run. Freddie Hosford took 2-12 in his 8 overs, Jon Strand 2-25, Martin Richards 1-21 in a typically miserly spell and Hare completed a fine all-round display with 3-24.

Timsbury’s second eleven were well beaten by eight wickets away to Golden Hill fourth eleven in the Bristol and District League Division 6. Timsbury were dismissed for a disappointing 111. Dan Hill did his best to keep his side in contention with a fine knock of 42 and Mike Reynolds was 24 not out at the close of the innings but the total never looked to be enough. Dan McNamara took 4-18 for the home side.

Zac Patterson (52 not out) and Ben Milsom (31) then eased Golden Hill home with Albie Sage and Reynolds taking the two wickets to fall.

Timsbury’s third eleven amassed an impressive total of 201-6 at home to Old Park in the Bristol and District League Division 9 East but it was not quite enough with the visitors winning by six wickets.
