TIMSBURY missed a great opportunity to win their first match of the season in the Bristol and District League Division 1 when they went down to a 24-run home defeat against highflyers Lansdown 2nd XI.
They had their Bath opponents in trouble at 62-8 - thanks mainly to a fine early spell from Sam Hoddinott who took 3-16 and the ever consistent Martin Richards. Sam Bowery then changed the complexion of the game with a quickfire 24 and with Jackson Hamilton (22 not out) saw Lansdown through to 105 with Richards taking 5-17.
Lewis Redwood and Jon Strand made early inroads into the target and at 53-2 it was Timsbury’s game to lose. Enter Bowery who proceeded to follow up his batting exploits with a fine spell of leg spin bowling as Timsbury lost wickets . A late effort from Freddie Hosford gave the home side hope but from 71-5 they subsided to 81 all out with Bowery taking 4-19 and Harry Veal 3-27.
Timsbury’s second eleven made a solid start away against Bristol Eagles in the Bristol and District League Division 6 with an opening stand of 45 between Cory Versfeld and Josh Tucker . Thereafter, however, the innings fell apart with only Dan Hill reaching double figures as they collapsed to 87 all out with Khaleel Shaik taking 4-1. Albie Sage took two wickets for the visitors but the Eagles cruised to a seven-wicket win..
Timsbury’s 3rd XI gained a seven-wicket victory at home to Bristol Lions in the Bristol and District League Division 9 East. Lions made an excellent start with an opening stand of 80 between Hussain (31) and Ariz (30) but the club’s young brigade then took over with Daniel Gifford (4-38) and Milo Sage (2-30) helping to dismiss the Lions for 123. Matt Ball (49 not out) and Jake Brooks (34) followed up with confident batting displays.
