A SUPERB century from opener Gary Pearcy was still not enough to secure a first win of the season for Timsbury’s first eleven who went down by four wickets away to Keynsham ‘s second eleven in the Bristol and District League Division 1.

In his unfamiliar role at the top of the order he held the innings together with a fluent knock of 103 before being out off the last ball of the innings as Timsbury finished on 169-8. Cory Versfeld with a late cameo helped boost the visitors to a competitive score with Johnson taking 3-30 for the home side.

The home reply saw no score of large proportions but there was a noticeable consistency throughout the order with five players passing 20. Kennedy top scored with 32 and Johnson followed up his bowling exploits with 29 but Timsbury battled hard and two tight spells from Sam Hoddinott (2-17) and Kev Sibley saw the game wide open at 133-6. A dominant unbeaten stand of 39 between Boulton and Emmott then settled the issue to dash Timsbury’s hopes.

Timsbury’s second eleven took part in a similarly tight game before eventually going down by two wickets at home to Stapleton second eleven in the Bristol and District League Division 6. Batting first Timsbury compiled 188-6 with notable contributions from Dan Hill (35), Ben Smith (28 not out) and Mike Reynolds (28). Stapleton made a strong start in reply putting on 60 for the first wicket but the home side kept up the pressure and at 136-6 the game was wide open.

Oscar Mallon, Ben Smith and Lee Henderson each took two wickets but thanks to 43 each from Sam Millard and Mohammad Zaid Azhar Stapleton took the honours.

Despite making just 90 Timsbury’s third eleven fought hard in their away fixture against Whitchurch’s third eleven before going down by three wickets in the Bristol and District League Division 9 East.

Paul Sage used all his experience to hold the Timsbury innings together with a fine knock of 39 but no one else managed double figures.

A competent bowling performance ensured that the home side had to work hard for their win and they used up more than 32 overs before eventually getting over the line. Albie Sage was Timsbury’s most successful bowler with 2-6.
