ON A DAY when so much went right off the pitch, Timsbury failed to match it on the field, losing by 7 wickets at home to Bath 3rd XI in the Bristol and District League Division 1.

The club had invited life members, vice-presidents and sponsors to share the afternoon at the club and they were able to witness the new patio that had been laid in front of the changing rooms spearheaded by skipper Jesse Bishop.

Batting first the home side found life difficult against an impressive Bath attack. Only Freddie Hosford (22 not out) and Kev Sibley (21) made notable contributions and Timsbury were grateful for a generous donation of 34 wides in their meagre total of 112.

Jacob Lewis (4-20) and Luke Welsh (3-17) led the way for the visitors. Bath were never in serious trouble chasing the total and knocks of 41 not out from Ben Harper, 25 from Sam Simmons and 22 from Samuel Preece saw them to victory.

Timsbury’s second eleven also found the going tough in their away fixture with Bath’s fourth eleven in the Bristol and District League, Division 6 losing by 96 runs. Will Poulton (82) and George Wylie with 70 starred for the home side as they compiled a match winning total of 243-8. Henry Webb and Ben Smith both picked up two wickets for the visitors.

Timsbury skipper Adam Workman responded with an unbeaten 46 and Josh Tucker returned from his honeymoon to hit 27 but the visitors finished well short on 147-8. Wylie capped an excellent all-round performance with 4-18 and Bharath Chandrasekaran took 3-28.

It was also a long afternoon in the sun for Timsbury’s third eleven who were beaten by 148 runs at home to Hampset thirds in the Bristol and District League Division 9 East. Hampset 3rds 259-5 (Christopher Kindon 102), Timsbury 3rds 111.
