Mendip were unfortunate not to come away with at least a point in Saturday’s fixture at Marlborough.

The home side benefited from a mix up in the Mendip defence to open the scoring early on, before Maddy Collins netted an equaliser, slotting home Katie Riches’ excellent cross. Marlborough retook the lead with a fiercely struck effort before half-time.

The second half saw both sides create chances, with Mendip’s Sammy Chivers making some great driving runs down the right to release her forwards, but the Marlborough defence stood firm to the end.

Katie Rich was player of the match.

Mendip now take a fortnight’s break from league action, with friendlies against Winscombe and Westberries.
