A TEAM of 12 students from Midsomer Norton TAGB Tae Kwon-Do travelled to Worcester to take part in the British Championships – the final national competition of the year and one of the biggest with over 1,200 competitors in attendance.

For several of the local students, this was their very first national event, and they performed exceptionally well, showing confidence, determination, and true martial arts spirit. For the more experienced competitors, it was another opportunity to push themselves, demonstrate their skills, and proudly represent the club on the national stage.

One of the highlights of the day was the way the juniors supported one another throughout the competition. Many teamed up for several events, encouraged each other from the sidelines, and in some cases even faced one another in the final while competing for the top place. Despite this, they remained respectful, showed true sportsmanship, congratulated one another, and genuinely celebrated each other’s successes. Their attitude and behaviour were a credit to themselves and to the club.

It was inspiring to see competitors of all ages step onto the mats, many overcoming nerves and challenges to give their very best. Moments like these remind everyone what Tae Kwon-Do is truly about – not just medals, but personal growth, courage, and the willingness to try something new.

Here are the fantastic results: Lucy Barr – Silver Individual Patterns; Stefan Barr – Gold TAG Team Sparring; Henry Smith – Gold Individual Sparring, Gold TAG Team Sparring; Stu Bell – Bronze Individual Patterns, Gold Individual Sparring, Bronze TAG Team Sparring; Sydné Bell – Gold Individual Patterns, Gold Individual Sparring, Gold TAG Team Sparring, Bronze Team Patterns; Dexter Ovens – Gold TAG Team Sparring; Victoria Smith – Silver Individual Sparring, Gold TAG Team ; Matteo Dan – Bronze TAG Team Sparring; Arielle Barr – Silver Individual Patterns, Silver Team Patterns; Jack Macfarlane – Silver Team Patterns; Daisy Corbett-Stringer – Bronze Individual Sparring, Bronze Individual Patterns, Silver Team Patterns, Gold TAG Team Sparring

A huge thank you goes out to the parents, families and friends who travelled to Worcester to support members of the team. Their encouragement means the world to the club’s students and helps make these events truly memorable. It could not be done without them.

As the last national competition of the year, the British Championships marked a wonderful end to a busy and successful year. Every student who competed represented the club with respect and dedication. Their achievements, both on and off the mats, are something the club are incredibly proud of.
