After an even start, Paulton began to dominate, and on 25 minutes went ahead, as a defence-splitting pass by Finlay Shakespeare found veteran, Dave Hall, who beat the last defender and rounded the keeper to slot into an empty net.

They doubled their tally after forty minutes, with Aaron Whittock brought down twenty yards out from goal, whilst running through.

He took the free kick, which thundered past the home keeper, making it 2–0 at half-time.

Rovers made it three on sixty minutes as Ricky Jenkins raced on a goal kick from Paulton goalkeeper, Simon Chivers. The striker controlled the ball to shoot home.

Ten minutes later, Hall cut inside from a through ball by Jenkins, beating the last defender to loop over the goalkeeper, making it 4–0.

Hall was applauded off the field as he was substituted.

The home side kept battling and Matt Davis pulled a goal back on 75 minutes. Five minutes later, Connor Farr made it 5–1 after a good team build-up.
