A freak goal two minutes from the end of full-time was enough to earn Timsbury Athletic all three points in a 2–1 home win over Keynsham Town Reserves in the Somerset County League Division One East. With time running out, Craig Dowling charged down keeper, Joe Jackson’s clearance, and the ball ballooned back into the net.

The first half had belonged to the visitors, with Timsbury creating few chances. Tom Johnson put an early chance wide for Keynsham before Sam Simpson-Jarman gave the visitors a tenth minute lead with a shot that deceived Jack Scrivens in the Timsbury goal. A shot from distance from Callum Taylor which went wide was all that Timsbury could offer, as Keynsham dominated the possession. Aaron Osbourne weaved his way through but lost control when near goal and Liam Downer headed Craig Fenlon’s free kick wide.

Liam Crispin could have added to Keynsham’s score early in the second half but then the home side took over. Ellis Hancock just failed to get his head to an excellent Joe Parker cross, and Lewis Blannin had a shot cleared off the line. Soon after Blannin had another chance when he broke clear and this time he made no mistake, burying the equalizer in the back of the net.

Keeping up the pressure, Timsbury saw Dowling race clear, only to shoot over the top and he then followed this up with a tremendous shot which struck the crossbar. Just as the game looked destined for a draw, Dowling’s persistence earned Timsbury the victory and to add to Keynsham’s woes, Harry Ollis was sent off.
