On another hot afternoon last Saturday, Peasedown Albion were the opposition for Tunley Athletic in the fifteenth annual Freda Hookings MBE Memorial Trophy game.
Freda was President of Tunley for over forty years and the first lady Vice President of the Somerset FA, who received her MBE in the Millennium New Year’s honours list for her services to the club. The trophy was donated by Freda’s family to be played between Tunley and a local football club in a pre-season match.
In a very competitive game, the result was a 5-1 win for Peasedown Albion, with their goals scored by Kris Seviour (2), Tom Woodland (2) and Rico Sobers, with Tunley’s goal scored by Nathan Baker, who was also awarded the Barry Gould trophy as Tunley’s Man of the Match. Both Clubs would like to thank Dean Wheatley for refereeing the game. Players, friends and family gathered after the match for refreshments in Tunley’s Recreation Centre.
Tunley’s season starts on Saturday, 10th August in the Uhlsport Somerset County League away to Congresbury. Peasedown Albion are in the Mid-Somerset League, which starts on Saturday, 7th September. Good luck wishes go to both teams for the season ahead.
