Honours were shared in this promotion battle at the top of the Somerset County League Division One East, with the main beneficiaries, Stockwood Green and Clutton, who have games in hand. After a successful season in both the County Cup competitions, Clutton have to fit in another eleven games before the end of the campaign, with Westfield having six games remaining and Timsbury just three.

Ellis Hancock brought Westfield keeper, Tom Waterland, into early action with a crisp strike, which was well held and then Lewis Blannin struck the side-netting for the visitors from the acutest of angles. Beau Baber was just over the top for the home side with a good effort, before Timsbury took the lead after 27 minutes.

Jem Lutwama won a crucial header and found Blannin, who headed home. Former Timsbury player, Adam Pugsley, found the net for Westfield, but the header was ruled out for offside, while Nick Hemmings wasted the home side’s best chance when he shot wide with the goal at his mercy. Just before the interval, Westfield did get the equalizer however, when a long through ball was turned into his own goal by Liam Craze.

In the second half, a great effort from distance from Jack Nix almost caught out Waterland, who just managed to push the ball over the bar. Lutwama then hit the home post with a terrific shot and Matt Brooks headed over from a Craze corner. A similar situation in the dying minutes again saw Brooks just fail to convert a Craze corner, while with a late chance, Ryan Allen headed wide for the home side.
