PAULTON ROVERS 1 BLACKFIELD & LANGLEY 2
Paulton Rovers’ trip to AFC Totton, near Southampton, fell foul of the adverse weather this weekend, with the game being postponed after a pitch inspection early on Saturday morning.
The game will now be rearranged for a Tuesday night, probably at the end of February or early March.
This Saturday, 9th February, Paulton are home to table-topping, Portsmouth-based Moneyfields; kick-off 3 p.m. They dropped to second place after last weekend’s 1-0 home defeat to Blackfield & Langley, who went top.
The previous Saturday, Rovers drew 0-0 at the new table-toppers’ ground. The break has given more time for Paulton’s injured Captains, Jamie Laird and Dale Evans, to recover.
The Youth Team, having finished second in the Somerset Floodlit League Central Division, start the Supplementary competition with a home game against Chard Town on Thursday, 28th February.
Before that, the First Team are away in the Evostik Southern League to Barnstaple Town on Saturday, 16th February, then on Wednesday, 20th February, they travel to Clevedon Town in the Quarter-Final of the Somerset Premier Cup.
Paulton Rovers held their monthly charity afternoon tea and game of bingo on Monday, which was very well attended, as usual. This month’s benefiting charity was the Alzheimer’s Society, with £112.94 raised.
The next event, on Monday, 4th Marc,h is from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. to raise funds for Above & Beyond. The club’s Social Secretary, Vanessa Lynch, is running the Bath Half Marathon in aid of the charity as well. Everyone is welcome to come along for a chat, cuppa and cake.
