AFTER a successful spell in caretaker charge where Paulton Rovers gained promotion back to the Southern League, the club have confirmed the permanent appointment of John Rendell as manager alongside Martin Lenihan as assistant manager-player.

Lenihan and Jack Dancey, assisted by Rendell, masterminded eight league victories, one draw and just one defeat in the run-in after Kieran Baggs’ sudden departure.

The run left the club in a play-off position and two further victories against Clevedon Town and Sidmouth Town sent Paulton back to the Southern League.

Rendell is an ex-goalkeeper and manager of Paulton and has plenty of Southern League experience, having kept the club in the upper regions of Division One and having had a spell in charge at Yate Town.

Paulton born and bred, Lenihan is one of the most popular players in the region and in addition to his newly found managerial talent he has played at Southern League level for Paulton, Frome and Yate.
