Following the club’s End of Season Awards this past Friday, Ryan Grubb was presented to players and supporters as the new Chairman of Welton Rovers Football Club. He has been involved at Welton Rovers for many years and also holds positions with Somerset FA, as well as being an experienced referee.
Addressing the club, Mr Grubb said: “It’s a great honour to accept the position of Chairman. This club is in my heart, if I was to cut myself I’d bleed Green, it’s as simple as that. We’ve got a fantastic Board and I hope we can take this club forward. We brought on some really good, young players last season and I want to see more of that at the club. We want the best of the local youngsters coming through at Welton Rovers.”
Expanding on his plans, the new Chairman added: “My other ambition is to introduce Women’s Football to Midsomer Norton. We want to involve more local sponsors within the club to help us push on to the next level.”
Welton Rovers are currently without a manager following the departure of Nick Beaverstock. On the vacancy, Ryan Grubb said: “We have been speaking with a manager we are very excited about and will have an announcement on that in the coming week.”
Mr Grubb replaces the outgoing Chairman, Stuart Minall. Minall had been at the helm of the club for the past three seasons, overseeing Welton Rovers’ promotion to the Toolstation Western League Premier Division and playing a huge part in overhauling the club’s board of directors and social club. Director, Gareth Paisey, said: “Stuart made vital changes to the club at a very important time and leaves us in a strong position for the future, we’re very grateful for all he’s done at the club and am sure we’ll see him back before too long.” Minall departs to focus on business commitments.
