THE Jewson Western League has announced a new awareness partnership with Prostate Cancer UK for the 2026/27 season — using the reach and community spirit of non-League football to help more men understand their risk of the UK's most common cancer.

The partnership continues a proud tradition of the Western League using its platform to support good causes. In recent years the League ran a successful mental-health campaign with local Mind charities across Wiltshire, Somerset, Devon and Cornwall.

Following a proposal from the board, prostate cancer has been chosen as the focus for the season ahead — a cause that resonates deeply with the league's largely male playing and supporter community.

Prostate Cancer UK have committed to provide clubs with awareness and fundraising materials, ready-made digital assets and supporter logos. Over the season, the charity also hopes to bring its specialist nurses and awareness activity to selected fixtures, helping supporters understand their risk and the options open to them.

To kick things off, the league and Prostate Cancer UK will host an online webinar for all clubs in September. The session will introduce the charity, set out the plans for the rest of the season, and walk clubs through the support and materials on offer — with the aim of including a short awareness talk from one of the charity's specialist nurses. Ian Nockolds, Communications Officer for the Jewson League, said: "Non-League football is woven into the fabric of our communities, and that puts us in a unique position to reach men who might not otherwise think about their health. Prostate cancer now affects one in eight men in their lifetime, yet it is still something many find hard to talk about.

Tommy Simeons of Prostate Cancer UK said: "We love non-League football because it reaches men right where they are, at the heart of their communities.”
