FOOTBALL is the game . . . and supporting is our aim. That’s the slogan for a fundraising event being held on Sunday, 3rd May, at the Centurion, Midsomer Norton, for the benefit of Whitehaven Residents’ Activity Fund.

It’s a staff football match with kick-off at 3pm. Tickets are £5 which includes a burger or hot dog.

All the residential staff are taking part, so it should be full of laughs and all in a great cause.

Whitehaven Residential Home in Fosse Way has about 20 residents, with 24 hour care provided by a team of dedicated staff. The residents are encouraged to be independent and to continue with their interests as well as developing new ones.

One of the residents is a local man Eric Doughty, who in the 1950s played for Arsenal and later for Plymouth Argyle, before retiring with a knee injury. He will be happy to chat to you about the famous players of that era. E.D.
