Timsbury were mainly thankful for a strong first half performance that enabled them to claim all three points against their local neighbours at the Rec in Division One East of the Somerset Senior League.

The home side started strongly, pinning the Peasedown defence into their own half. The pace of Parker was causing problems early on; he had the first attempt on goal, but shot over from a tight angle with only the keeper to beat. Parker then hit a fine cross from the right, which flashed across the area without anyone being able to divert it goal bound.

After fifteen minutes, Timsbury took the lead. Parker was involved again when his lay back fell to the feet of Hancock on the edge of the box, and his right foot shot sailed over keeper, Allard, into the top corner.

Timsbury continued to press and Lutwama was unlucky when his shot flew just wide. Timsbury made it 2–0 on the half hour after good work between Lutwama and Blannin found Hancock surging forward – he took the ball in his stride, neatly evading the last defender to fire home. Peasedown found it difficult to threaten the Timsbury goal and were limited to shots from long range. On the stroke of half-time, it became 3–0 when a Nix free kick from the left found the head of Hancock at the far post, who played it back across goal to Taylor, who made no mistake.

Playing down the slope in the second half, Peasedown looked far more threatening and with the willing running of the lively Saunders, started to press the Timsbury defence.

The home side could have eased the pressure when a run from Lutwama down the left resulted in a cross to the feet of Hancock, who somehow managed to miss the target from twelve yards.

Immediately the Timsbury defence were back-pedalling when Saunders ran on to a long ball and neatly found the back of the net, giving Hamilton no chance and making it 3–1.

Allard saved well from a Lutwama shot after a cross from Blannin, but from the next attack was adjudged to have brought Blannin down for a penalty as he tried to go around him.

Craze stepped up to finally settle the game, but failed to hit the target. This lifted Peasedown, who were now pushing hard for a second goal to put pressure on the home side, however, the central partnership of Taylor, Ben Hancock and Brookes stood firm.

With fifteen minutes remaining, the home side’s job became even harder when Nix was sent off for a second booking, however, this seemed to galvanise Timsbury and Peasedown found them even harder to break down. They failed to make any further inroads into the score and the game finished 3–1.
