Congratulations to ten-year-old Libbie Dezis, from Farrington Park, for a great August golfing. She finished third in the Girls 9–10 Division at the Wee Wonders Grand Final at St Andrew’s and followed that up by winning the Farrington Park Junior Open with an impressive 45 points.
She has seen her handicap cut from 36 to 23 in just three weeks. Libbie is amongst a growing number of up and coming girls in the Junior Section at Farrington Park expertly coached by PGA Coaching professional, Terry Williams. The ‘Tiger Club’ juniors on a Sunday morning welcome any boy or girl wishing to try the game. For more details on this, please call the Golf Shop at Farrington Park.
With Strictly Come Dancing and The Great British Bake Off back on our TV screens for yet another season, it was surely coincidence that the Tennessee Waltz was the Seniors’ competition this week and that Bob ‘The Dough’ Baker was once again in the winnings!
With the sun continuing to shine but the grass in patches showing little sign of re-growth, points scoring was surprisingly low, with the winners accruing a mere eighty points.
Results: 1st Bob Baker/Graham Bradley/Steve Mitchell, 2nd Bill Sims/Tony Clement/Mel Field, 3rd Rick Clark/Richard Dancey/Mick Astle, 4th Leo Seddon/Pete Maule/Doug Nash, 5th Paul Cains/Chris Liberty/Tony Edwards. Nearest the Pins on 5th: Boyd Francis, 8th: Don Perry, 14th: Philip Michael and 15th: Chris Liberty. Friendly Match result: lost 5–2 away to The Bristol.
Farrington Park will play Wells at The Mendip in the Final of the Somerset Seniors Rosebowl.
