Warm sunshine accompanied by an occasional icy wind greeted the 75 Senior golfers at Farrington Park for the regular Wednesday morning get together.
The normal format for the Tennessee Waltz was reversed, meaning that it would be three scores on the first hole then two scores on the second hole and one score on the third hole – then repeat. The new World Handicap System (WHS) has thrown up (metaphorically speaking) some interesting handicaps and team games and knockout competitions will never be quite the same again.
Anyway, back to the present. Winning with 92 points were Dave Forshaw, Martin Clark and Dave Cross. In second place, also with 92 points, were John Palmer, Tony Waldron and Don Perry. With 90 points, Steve Symonds, Mike Astle and Geoff Cabral took third place.
After a break of some fourteen months, Senior friendly matches are back on the menu. First up we are away to Wells Golf Club on Thursday, 27th May followed by a home match to Saltford on Tuesday, 1st June. It will be good to meet up with old acquaintances once again.
