It was a beautiful day to play golf and the course and views of Somerset were looking fantastic for the Ladies’ Daily Mail qualifier.

Philippa Gowen and Sue Slade won the competition and will represent the club at the area finals next year. In second place, just one shot behind, was Jill

Bocquet and Janice White.

The Ladies’ October Medal results were:

Silver Division: first Glynis Slater, nett 81, Bronze Division: first Diane Ramsay, nett 75, Copper Division: first Patti Jervis, nett 81.

The Ladies’ Autumn meeting saw twenty-one ladies playing in the beautiful autumn sunshine.

It was a Bowmaker format and the second placed team, with 83 points, was Linda Wright, Jenny Baker and Jan Hayward.

In first place was the team of Tina Davies, Kathy Lane and Jackie Clark with 84 points.

An Individual Stableford for the Carole Nicholson Trophy was won by Tina Davies with 37 points.

Seventy-two men enjoyed a lovely afternoon in the sun and as usual, a number found the challenges of the White Tees somewhat easier than others. Some members are making the prospect of the handicap review rather pleasant with these excellent scores.

There were 9 two’s - Mark Edgell, Cliff Hopkins x2, Colin Mantle, Mike McKay, Ian Nicol, Adam Payne, Nigel Pring and Malcolm Terry.

First place were Richard Birch and Malcolm Terry, 47 points, second Gary Nutt and Colin Payne 45 points, third Dave Cunningham and Dale Killey 44 points, fourth Mark Neighbour and Nick Gumm 44 points and in fifth, Mike Vincent and John Baker, 44 points.

The Senior’s Pre-AGM Stableford attracted a large number, who played under a bright blue sky. Cliff Hopkins, continuing a golden patch, was the overall winner and winner of the Harry Mayle Cup, with 42 points on countback.
