Juniors Competition Results:

It was a fantastic weekend at Mendip Golf Club for the West of England U14’s Championship and the Mendip Junior Vase.

The West of England U14’s Championship attracted a bumper entry of 63 juniors, and entries had to be balloted to 48.

With juniors coming from as far away as Kent and Cornwall to the Midlands, this event is proving to be a highlight in the golfing calendar at the golf club.

The winner, with a magnificent score of 143 over the 36 holes, was Lauren Cowley from Broome Manor. Lauren won by four shots from Harrison Barnett and Thorpe Hall. It was a magnificent score from Lauren who was a well deserved winner.

With special thanks to all our volunteers and staff who helped make the event so special for everyone, Lauren received the trophy from Mendip Ladies Club captain Alison Kay.

The Mendip Junior Vase attracted a field of 55 juniors from around the area and the winning score of 42 points came from Ruby Spencer of Wells Golf Club, closely followed by Harriet Isaacs from Burnham and Berrow Golf Club.

This event also doubled as the Somerset Junior Team Championship and the winning team going through to the National Finals at Woodhall Spa is Burnham and Berrow B Team.

Junior member, Tate Sinfield-Day, played in the Somerset Junior Championship and with a score of 72 and 69 won the U16 and U18 Championship at Oake Manor.

On what was supposedly the hottest day of the year, so far, The Mendip Seniors ventured to a very sunny Bridgwater to take on Enmore Park.

Unfortunately, it wasn't just the weather that was very warm but the home team were also too hot for The Mendip Seniors who went down 4-2.

Well done goes to two winning pairs of Rob Thain and Robert Miller, as well as Bryan Lewis and Ken Langridge. Ken is now unbeaten in his last nine outings.

The ladies Alliance A team played at home to Bristol and Clifton. Luckily a pleasant breeze and some high cloud made the temperature much kinder than of late.

There were several close matches but the visitors finished winners 9-5.
