The Captain’s Trophy day in the Seniors section of Fosseway Golf Club was exactly that with Captain, John Appleton, walking away with the first prize.
The captain’s Stableford total of 44 points maintained his excellent form and saw him two points clear of Ken Tucker with Arthur Bellinger a further two points behind with 40. Gerry Rowell was fourth, with 38 points, with John Bendle fifth and Graham Edgell sixth, with countback deciding their positions.
In the latest social match, Fosseway were forced to hand back the FosseBrean Trophy after losing 4–2 at home to Brean.
The visitors completed an 8–4 aggregate success. Appleton and Bendle continued their good run with a 3&2 victory in the opening four ball, while Allen Cheney and Terry Button were convincing 5&4 winners. George Underwood and Brian Phelps were beaten 2&1, Pat Cray and Rowell lost 4&3, while Cyril Blacker and John Williams and Edgell and Malcolm Tucker finished on the wrong side of 5&4 matches.
