The winners’ rostrum in the recent competition run by the Seniors had a familiar look.

The successful trio in the Triples Stableford for the Clem Byrne Trophy have all been in good form. John Bendle and John Waters, who were second and third in the March Medal, were joined by Pat Cray to post a score of 77 points. In second place, with 72 points, were Cyril Blacker, Frank Reeves and Malcolm Tucker, with Arthur Bellinger, Graham Edgell and Gerry Rowell third.

The first social match of the season saw Fosseway welcome a new club, Folke. It proved a close contest, with the visitors claiming the honours, 4–3. Blacker and Bendle were the most convincing with a 4&3 victory. Allen Cheney and Mike Ricketts won 3&2 while Cray and Rowell triumphed 3&1. Captain John Appleton and his partner, Tucker, went to the last green before the Folke Captain, Terry Cotton, the former Yeovil Town defender, sank the vital putt to win one up. Howard Nowell and Geoff Hallett were beaten 4&3, Edgell and Bellinger lost 5&4 and Reeves and Vice-Captain George Underwood went down 6&5.
