One hundred juniors and parents attended this year’s Farrington Park Junior Presentation to celebrate all the prize winners from the 2015 season.
Junior Organiser, Pete Hansford, expertly organised the event, with help from the three PGA Golf Professionals at Farrington Park, Jonathan Lawrence, Terry Williams and Alex Todd.
Awarded first were the certificates for all the Young Masters Golf graduates. Over thirty juniors are currently enrolled in the scheme and all have done extremely well to move on to the next stage of their learning.
The 22 juniors who participated in the Junior League Team in 2015 were also celebrated after winning the Somerset Junior League for the ninth year in a row, as well as the Somerset Three Man Knockout Trophy for the third time.
Individual prizes were awarded to the many eighteen hole and nine hole medal winners, seven-year-old Lily Marshall won the best nine hole Player of the Year and she also jointly won the Young Tiger of the Year, with five-year-old Harley Wickham. Eleven-year-old Jackson Carey won the prize for the most dedicated junior, Frankie Dezis won the best Under-11 Golfer of the Year, Most Improved Golfer went to Abby Gray, who has improved her handicap this year by eleven shots to 21.
There were Somerset County Team honours awarded to Ben Josham (U18), Becky Ager (U18), Izzy Hansford (U18), Abby Gray (U18), Louis Archer (U16), Jackson Carey (U14), Atley Stacey Day (U14) and Alex Marshall (U14).
Finally, 2015 Junior Captain, Ben Josham, transferred the captaincy to the 2016 Junior Captain, Alex Bendall. Thanks were given to Junior Organiser, Pete Hansford, for all his hard work over the past year. With over one hundred juniors now at Farrington Park, the junior section’s future looks very rosy!
