After two weeks of inclement weather, which had caused the Duchy course to be closed, Thursday, 1st February dawned bright and clear.

The course was open from holes six to eighteen, and was a stern test of winter golf, being wet underfoot with a strong, gusty wind not helping proceedings.

37 ladies entered the non-qualifying Stableford competition, with half the field finding it very difficult to put together a decent score.

Sue Forshaw and Linda Rogers were the only players to record two spot-birdies, at the par-three, fifteenth hole.

To play to par, 26 points needed to be scored. Jackie Walker’s birdie on the par-five, seventh hole helped her to a fine score of 27 points and first place.

24 points secured second place for Bridget Rylance. Countback determined that third place went to Mandy Hobbs, after she and Min Woodward tied with 23 points each.
