The weather forecasted was freezing temperatures and rain. Well, we all know about forecasting, don’t we? It turned out to be particularly mild and no rain – who would be a weather forecaster?!

On a course reduced to a par 68, a Texas Scramble was played, with six drives each, but with a combined handicap allowance of three tenths!

Winning, with a score of 47.1, were A. Elkington, R. Wilkinson and G. Robinson. Second place were F. Grist, C. Liberty and R. Leworthy, with 48.8, and in third place were B. Hall, D. Brown and R. Porter with 50.7.

The final competition of the year is the Ray Dando Trophy, which is played using just three clubs and a putter. This is followed by the Seniors’ Christmas Dinner and Trophy Presentation.

With thermal clothing needed in the wintry conditions, some great scoring was still achieved on the shortened course on Saturday. In Division One, Mark Bales topped the Division with an excellent score of 44 points, with Gordon MacKay a close second on 43 points, and George Hobbs third on 42 points. In Division Two, it was Ian Jones who took control with 39 points, followed closely by Des Deane on 38 points, and Eric Reddy third on 36 points.

Congratulations on a great day for Paul Brown on his hole-in-one on the shortened 17th hole on Sunday. In Division One, it was Steve Coles at the top with 41 points, followed by Lee Francis on 39 points, and Lee Sparkes third on 38 points. In Division Two, some great scoring, with Neil Morgan with an excellent 45 points at the top, Nick Hemmings a close second, on 44 points, and Paul Goddard, third, on forty points.
